Positive: My initial impression of Homewood Suites in Brighton was positive, the property is clean and spacious when you first walk in. The suite layout is great for longer stays, with a well-equipped kitchenette (fridge, stove, dishes, dishwasher, microwave, dining table), a comfortable living area with a sofa, armchairs, and a TV, and a separate bedroom which adds privacy. The gym was also well-equipped and a definite plus. Breakfast was good.
Negative: Unfortunately, my experience was let down by a few issues. I was charged more at check-in than what was shown on Booking.com, about $40 extra. Then I noticed additional fees at checkout (such as a hotel room assessment charge) that were never mentioned upfront. I was already half way to the airport when I received the invoice. I’ve booked many properties through Booking.com before and have never had unexpected fees like this. Cleanliness was also disappointing. I found old food from a previous guest in the fridge when I arrived late at night. The next morning, when I informed the front desk, they didn’t seem very concerned and simply handed me a bin bag to remove it myself. The bathroom could have been cleaner as well, the bathtub was stained and the taps had noticeable water marks. Overall, the space and amenities are good, but the lack of proper cleaning and surprise charges took away from what could have been a much better stay.
